Welcome to Field Notes!
I’ve written before that the films I make of my trips are a little bit different than the stories I write of the same trip. The difference isn’t drastic, though, and the variance depends on the trip. Basically, this is because there are some things that happen which have a large impact on the mood at the time and my memory, but which I just did not get on film.
I thought I’d toss you a little curve ball here today by posting the film of this trip before the story! Again, there was a gem of excitement that happened which I will write about that I did not catch in video. You’ll just have to check back later and read the story to find out! Otherwise, I hope you enjoy this Field Notes Film.
Here’s just a little bit of context. The Cohutta Wilderness is the largest designated wilderness area east of the Mississippi River and Jack’s River Falls is a popular waterfall in the middle of it. I’ve been to the falls many times as a day trip by a shorter trail. In the summer there is a cliff you can climb to jump into the pool of water below.
On this overnight trip I hiked the much longer Jack’s River Trail, with a crazy amount of river crossings. The area around the falls is restricted to day use only, so after visiting it I had to back track a bit to camp and then hiked out a different way in the morning.
Music in this film is as follows-
Metamorphosis by Quincas Moreira from the YouTube Audio Library
Live to Love by Sergii Pavkin from Pixabay.com
Waterfall by Roman Senyk from Pixabay.com
Tender Hearts (Sad Love Piano) by Alex Grohl from Pixabay.com
All tracks are available as royalty free downloads.
As always, I love hearing your impressions! Comments or questions about the film, backpacking in general, or anything photography related- drop them here!
