Field Notes Film: Panthertown Valley

Field Notes II.XVII: Backpacking and photographing Panthertown Valley in the Nantahala National Forest, North Carolina
2

Welcome to Field Notes!

On April 8, 2024 I went on a short overnight backpacking trip to explore Panthertown Valley in the Nantahala National Forest, North Carolina. This was a fascinating location and an excellent, albeit short, adventure! A bonus experience was a (not quite total) solar eclipse in the late afternoon that created weirdly flat, dim light, dropped the temps, and made the birds stop chattering.

The second day it rained. However, this made for some good light for photographing some waterfalls along the way.

I wrote a couple of adventure stories about these two days. The links are below. I hope you enjoy the film!

The audio tracks for this film are as follows-

  1. Wild Trail by Sergii Pavkin from Pixabay.com

  2. New Day by Sergii Pavkin from Pixabay.com

  3. Hand in Hand by Sergii Pavkin from Pixabay.com

  4. Fields of Illusion by Vitalii Korol from Pixabay.com

  5. Twilight by The Lakes from Uppbeat.io

All tracks are available as royalty-free downloads.

In case you missed it, here are the links to the adventure stories of Panthertown Valley-

Hey, if you’re interested, check out the Field Notes homepage. Scrolling down, there are several sections that categorize prior posts. There is one specifically for Field Notes Film. I recently updated the thumbnail images for these, in the hopes of getting more views over on YouTube. I want you to know that these films always premiere here in Field Notes and get uploaded there at some later time.

I would love to hear what you think of this film, especially if you’ve also read the adventure stories that accompany it! BUT, just know that if you are checking this out on the day that it is published, I’m stepping off on a 5 day backpacking trip. Please comment away and I’ll reply when I get back on the grid!
