Great article! I live for the burn and photography. There are many wonderful waterfalls in Tennessee, but I look for the ones where it is unlikely to run into people. I may be drawn to smaller falls too.
Lovely set of images Erik and I enjoyed reading about your adventure. It's lovely getting to know a place through your words and pictures.
We don't have any waterfalls here in Suffolk (UK), it is much too flat so I have to look to the sea to give me my waterscape images. Despite this I really enjoy capturing the motion in moving water and experimenting with shutter speeds to get the optimum texture.
Your waterfall shots are lovely - I think my favourite is the first one. I love how the green in the water mirrors the green on the rocks and the foliage at the sides.
Thanks Gill, that means a lot! I think that first one is my favorite, too. I'm very fortunate to have many great waterfalls within about a 2 hour drive from me. The ocean, on the other hand, is 5-6 hours away. I just went on a trip to the beach for the first time in about 3 years! We'll see how those photos turn out.
Beautiful work again, Erik! I read The Overstory by Richard Powers last week and this piece made me think of it and some of the ideas around what makes a healthy forest.
Beautiful as usual!! I DO have favorite waterfalls to visit but not many are near home here. Although, in Kananaskis country (about an hour from home) we have Elbow falls and Troll falls. Both are beautiful in their own way but not like yours! And not like in Jamaica lol.
Erik, sounds like a great day waterfall chasing. And worth a return visit perhaps. Lovely images and words. As coincidence would have it, last weekend I was up exploring some temperate rainforest and had the most amazing atmosphere - all due to a nearby prescribed burn!
I've never heard of these "healthy burns" before. Really interesting!
Haha! It was definitely a curve ball for the day!
:) Well, I've certainly learned something new, so many thanks!

Thanks! I think we are very lucky with the seemingly endless numbers of falls in our region!
So true!

Wonderful! I'll look that up, definitely interested!
It’s a very long but fantastic novel. Well worth reading for anyone interested in the environment.

Wow, I bet there are some spectacular falls in Jamaica!

Oh, that's a funny coincidence! I can't wait to see the photos!
