The GoPro is not on a gimbal. It does an excellent job of internally stabilizing the image to eliminate camera shake. Mine is mounted on a small handheld grip that can fold out into a tripod. Some of the shots are free standing, some are hand held, and for walking shots the grip is usually tucked into the chest pack I'm wearing.
Glorious photos, Erik. I appreciate you sharing some of the technical challenges of shooting moving water. Since I moved to an area with lots of waterfalls a couple of years ago, it's something I need to keep practicing at.
Thank you! The biggest help for me was learning how important a circular polarizer is. Your area is fascinating to me! I'd love to see some waterfall photos from around there!
Thanks Erik - I don't have much experience of using filters so I think this would be a good thing for me to explore. Perhaps I'll have to dedicate a day to photographing my favourite local waterfalls!
Very nice Erik. I love these type of excursions as well. So good for nurturing creativity.
Thank you! More ambitious adventures are great, but on a short hike like this one I feel like I can take my time to really absorb the surroundings!
So awesome. I like how you showed us the real pattern of leaves swirling next to the still shot of it. Beautifully vibrant photos!
Question: Do you have your GoPro mounted on a gimbal or on yourself?

Ahh, I see.
I've always wanted to try a gimbal lol. They look pretty cool.
Lol! I tried to make one when I was recording with my phone, but it didn't work!
