Extremely beautiful photos of this trail. Looks and sound cold. Thanks for sharing your adventures, I can only imagine the solitude of such an escape into the wilderness.

Thanks

Spectacular waterfalls.

Do you have any trouble sleeping when you only have 3 sides enclosed? I know it’s a mental thing, but I get wildlife anxiety whenever I don’t have myself fully enclosed in super-flimsy tent walks that would pose no barrier at all to a bear.

Funny that you mention that! It's very uncomfortable for me, too! That is something I plan on touching on as I wrap up the trip next week. Like you said, it's just mental but completely unnerving.

What a pleasure to join you on the trip Eric, armchair travel at it's best. My favourite waterfall shot is the tight frame with the autumnal tree behind adding a little pop of colour.

Glad to have you along Ross! That photo is one of my two favorites also!

Sounds like a hot, tough day Erik. Love that photo of you descending through the fog - it took me a while to spot you! Well done for keeping going - I would have stayed as long as there were trees in fog.

I did hang around and try to photograph the trees for a little while. The problem I had was that the light was still very dim and the wind was blowing hard so I had trouble getting anything that wasn’t blurry. I thought I had some interesting photos of water drops hanging off of some pinecones with a fast shutter speed, but even these had blur when I looked closer later on.

A really lovely mix of images Erik. I love the waterfall shots and the snakes and spiders add an extra dimension to the story. Your words really brought the trip to life - very evocative.

I enjoyed reading this! I felt your melancholy and tiredness right alongside you. No views and heavy miles can do that to ya.

The waterfall shots are gorgeous. Your pieces are as much a visual treat as they are an intellectual one.😍

It doesn't take much to lift our spirits when out with the camera; we just need one promising location. A lovely waterfall; no wonder you cheered up.

The way you told the beginning of this story had me feeling like I was in that cloud with you. I could envision the zero visibility, we get that here occasionally and it's bizarre.

Beautiful pics as usual.

Oh! Guess what? My calendar arrived yesterday...so quick! I'll post about it on Notes later today 😊

Oh awesome! I hope it meets your expectations!

Thanks Kristi, I'm working hard to convey the feeling of being there in my writing. It's great to hear that it comes across.

I wrote 2/3 of the final post of this trip yesterday on a different computer and discovered this morning on my home computer that none of it saved! 🤣

Oh my god!!! How could it not save in Substack? Or do you draft elsewhere?

It's what I wrote in Substack that didn't save. I've never had that happen before. I even just went and checked the other computer that I was using, but it's gone.

I do write a very rough draft on paper, so at least I still have that!
