My husband and I just enjoyed a trip to Yellowstone and saw a lot of elk. Amazing to watch and hear them in the wild! I’m looking forward to seeing more of your photos of Elk or fall!
Very cool! I was in Yellowstone many years ago. Saw bison, but no elk. I didn't get any new elk photos this time, but some of my pictures of mountains are turning our very nice!
I will say going to Yellowstone in the fall was a different experience than going in the summer. We saw way less bison and had never seen elk before but saw them almost every evening. Not sure if we just got lucky or if it’s normal for the time of year. Makes me want to try going other times of the year to see what’s different!
I would LOVE to go out west in the fall! I once stayed at a campground in Alberta Canada that was in an elk breeding grounds. They were everywhere, all amongst the tents, but all female and young so no bulls with antlers.
I did read your article you reposted about your trip there. I can imagine it made a big impression on a kid. I have never been east of the Mississippi except a week in the Charleston, NC/Savannah, GA area and would love to see more of it! Therefore, it’s fun to see your photos and come along on your trips through your field note posts while I dream of exploring it in person someday!
There is so much good stuff going on right now! And I'm planning another backpacking trip to Alabama in early November. Leaf season there is slightly later and should be at its peak!

Awesome! I'm glad to have you along!
Definitely worth sharing, thank you! The first one with the gate is so vibrant, combined with the subtle and moody tones too. So good. 💚
Thanks Martin! It was a tricky shot, but I think it turned out well.
Wow! I did not know there were ELK in the Smokies! 🫨 I've always wanted to visit that range.
It's spectacular!
Nobody could photograph autumn 🍂 like you would. Beautiful colors. Looking forward to your November installment of October! 😊
