Erik, it always feels so special finding an area only the locals know about! What a great adventure.

Beautiful photography and flow.

I appreciate that! It's interesting to look back at the photos I took back then. I'd only been doing photography for about a year at that point.

Whoa! A mission trip!? I see I need to scour your archives and read this series from the beginning. What a cool story!

And enjoy your Honduras trip!!

Haha, it's kinda weird! I'm not a church goer. I find peace in the wild, instead. But, Honduras will be the second mission trip I've gotten involved in.

For the Dominican, my wife and son went on a mission trip with this church the year before. I asked to tag along on the second one in 2021. But, my wife had some health concerns and ended up not going. We didn't want to pull my son out to, so I went, without having any connection to the group. 🤷🏻‍♂️. It still turned out to be a great experience.

For the upcoming trip to Honduras, it's again my wife's church. My son agreed to go, but then had to cancel due to a conflict with his upcoming college. They offered me his spot and I took it. I think a lot of the church has seen my photos/Substack and they want me to take pics! 😁

That's so cool, and such lovely coincidences! I don't think you need to be a church goer to reap the benefits of a mission trip. And you get to see beautiful places too!

Exactly! I've met some great people and I'm not afraid to roll up my sleeves and do some work. I'm so excited!

That's so, so cool. Good for you!! Too many people don't even want to work here, let alone volunteer to work for others. I hope it's a enriching and fulfilling experience...and that you write about it of course..!!

Honduras!!!! That's super exciting!

You have an incredible eye for capturing ordinary things and making them curious and interesting. I really like the pics of hardware and that close-up of the blue boat. Old, ratty boat pics are some of my favs.

Thanks! Thats a great reminder. Recently I catch myself overlooking those as I try to film and photograph the bigger scenes with the DSLR. I have no idea how this trip is going to play out, but I'm very excited!
