Field Notes in the Wild
Hey. Today I'm interrupting the schedule to write about potential. It is such a multifaceted thing!
There are long stretches of time when we feel locked in to a certain course. The familiar path grows long and the tracks get deeply rutted by routines.
Then, one day some small change occurs. Maybe it's something external that happens. Maybe it's a shift in our outlook. It doesn't matter. What follows is a flood of awareness of possibilities.
The problem with possibility is that it is unrealized. It can easily remain intangible hope, a daydream of dissipating smoke.
I'm trying to not let that happen.
Today I'm taking two small steps towards realizing some new potential. Let me explain.
First. I was given the opportunity to beta test a new function of the Substack Android app which has allowed me to create this post.
I took the photo above with my DSLR camera and edited it on the Lightroom app. Then, I created this post in the Substack app and included it.
The potential I see with this hovers around the ability to send Field Notes posts on the go. So, one day if I have the opportunity to go on a longer thru hike or other journey, I may be able to send posts FROM the field!
Second. The Human Element. I realize that the majority of you are not in the Athens, Georgia area. But, if you are, I just posted my first portrait booking availability on my booking site. Enough wondering. I want to start working.
I have one opening. The purpose is to test the booking site and see how this is going to work out. It's free to you (first come, only serve), as long as you can meet me at the location at that time and allow me to use the images. You get high quality digital downloads that you are free to use for personal use and print wherever you like.
Check out the booking HERE
That's all for now. Don't worry, I'm not going to start bombarding you with extra emails. And, in a couple of weeks I'll take a poll to see what you all are thinking!
Erik
I'm a little far away for a portrait but all power to you Erik. Wishing you every success.
So weird, the minute I received this I had a crazy feeling you had received the Android beta test privilege. How did I know? Because I did too and was just drafting a post but didn't want to send it out of schedule 😂 I'm so glad you did because your post looks great! I only ran into one little roadblock in my draft but otherwise, I see the SAME potential that you do! I love it!
Couldn't figure out how to add a subtitle though.
