Fine photos, Erik! Most appreciated “Gregory Bald V” with the sharp foreground and background softened by fog. 👏
Azaleas and rhododendrons are some of the few flowering shrubs that can survive the hard freezes of my native New England, and so they tend to be the default foundation planting of so many houses. Too much of a good thing. In my current southern CA world, there are hundreds of flowering varieties to enjoy, but I do miss those brilliant Springtime azaleas and rhodies back East!
I think I know what you mean. In Georgia we are chocked full of non-native azaleas as part of regular landscaping in the suburbs. They are gorgeous when they bloom, but so prolific that it does get overwhelming!
That morning on Gregory Bald was really special with the fog! Didn’t get any views at all, but the effect with the blooms was magical. Thank you Baird!
Thanks! I’m sure you know, it can be much harder than you’d think to find a good foreground subject with an angle that can also capture the wider scene. I love the foggy atmosphere, but it makes this especially tricky!
So many colors! Beautiful photos!
Thanks Sheryl! It’s only a rough approximation of seeing them in person!

Enjoy your tribe in the woods, Erik. Thank you for these epic earth shots as always.
Sure thing! Thanks Sam!
Great photos Erik. I especially like the ones that include some of the environment, like Shining Rock I and Gregory Bald IV.
